- Description
- Records from Sawant's office during her tenure on Seattle City Council, including memos, correspondence, reports, and other materials. One major topic is landlord-tenant law, including winter eviction regulations and rent control proposals. One file documents a rent control debate at Town Hall. Labor issues are heavily represented, including minimum wage laws, secure scheduling, union activities, and the Office of Labor Standards. Other topics include homelessness and encampments, taxation and progressive revenue, police accountability and funding, housing, taxis and TNCs, zoning and land use, transportation, and issues specific to District 3. Files labeled "Constituent Mail" include unsorted correspondence on a variety of topics, some of it offensive. "Speeches and Statements" folders include both speeches in the community and prepared statements given during council meetings.
