- Biography
- Abel Pacheco was appointed to serve as City Councilmember for Northeast Seattle's District 4 from April to November of 2019. Pacheco graduated with his BA degree in Political Science from California State University, Northridge in 2010 then went on to earn his Masters in Public Administration with Emphasis on Leadership, Management, and Decision-Making from the University of Washington in 2012. From 2015-2019, Pacheco worked with the University of Washington/s Office of Minority Affairs and Diversity, most recently serving as the Director of Strategic Engagement for the UW's Washington MESA (Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement) program to increase opportunities for students of color and young women in STEM. During his tenure in office, Pacheco was the chair of the Planning, Land Use, and Zoning Committee, served as vice chair of the Sustainability and Transportation Committee, and served as a member of the Gender Equity, Safe Communities, New Americans, and Education Committee.
