Scope and Contents Note

From the Series:

Records date from 1906-1970, with the bulk of the materials coming from Pomeroy's 1952-1956 mayoral term. The records were donated by family members and do not represent a transfer directly from the Mayor's office. They include both official and personal items, evidencing the history and character of Allan Pomeroy beyond his elected term as Mayor. The earliest item, from 1906, is a handbook of induction ceremonies used by the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks. Pomeroy served as Exalted Ruler, and his ceremonial medallion and ribbon is among his personal artifacts.

City of Seattle records include materials from several committees, including the Mayor's Maritime Advisory Committee and one focused on Police Practices. Records also include the Mayor's speeches to visiting conventions and document his participation in the Japan-American Pacific Coast Mayors' Conference. Subject files and specialized reports include a proposed toll road between Tacoma, Seattle, and Everett.

Photographs in the collection include portraits and documentation of his participation in official events and can be viewed at the link below.

Records also include two boxes of newspapers and clippings.
