Scope and Contents Note
Agendas, minutes, correspondence, and other materials related to the work of the committee. In addition to correspondence to committee members and minutes of their meetings, some internal Parks Department correspondence regarding their work and the garden site, as well as notes on public meetings, are also included. Records are arranged chronologically. Includes approximately 250 slide transparencies of the gardens.

Historical Note
Established in 1987 by Resolution 27702, the Kubota Gardens Oversight Committee was charged with providing community review and recommendations to the Parks Department in planning for use and development of the Kubota Gardens site. Members were appointed by the Mayor and City Council and were to include members of the neighborhood near the site as well as those with expertise in architecture, horticulture, and relevant social and cultural factors. The committee worked with city park planners to examine the park site, define possible uses, and create plans and recommendations.
