Scope and Contents Note
Email correspondence from City councilmember Abel Pacheco's tenure at city councilmember. This series includes the councilmember's correspondence as well as staff accounts with many topics related to the committees Pacheco chaired which included Planning, Land Use, and Zoning; Sustainability and Transportation; and Gender Equity, Safe Communities, New Americans, and Education committees. Constituent correspondence spans a wide range of subjects of concern to citizens, especially homelessness and homeless encampments, public safety, ride-share programs, public transportation, infrastructure and technology.

Historical Note
Abel Pacheco served Northeast Seattle's District 4 as an appointed city council from April to November of 2019. Pacheco graduated with his BA degree in Political Science from California State University, Northridge in 2010 then went on to earn his Masters in Public Administration with Emphasis on Leadership, Management, and Decision-Making from the University of Washington in 2012. From 2015-2019, Pacheco worked with the University of Washington’s Office of Minority Affairs and Diversity, most recently serving as the Director of Strategic Engagement for the UW’s Washington MESA (Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement) program to increase opportunities for students of color and young women in STEM. During his tenure in office, Pacheco was the chair of the Planning, Land Use, and Zoning Committee, served as vice chair of the Sustainability and Transportation Committee, and served as a member of the Gender Equity, Safe Communities, New Americans, and Education Committee.
