Laurel Mercury Slide Collection
Scope and Contents Note
Slides of photos taken by Laurel Mercury depicting Seattle landmarks. Landmarks include mostly parks and museums across the city, as well as stadiums, Lake Union, Pike Place, the waterfront and piers, downtown, the International District, and Pioneer Square. There is also a collection of photos from Mt. Rainier National Park and a collection of photos from a memorial service held in Seattle immediately after the events of 9/11. Images are digitized and available to view on our digital collections site.

Biographical Note
Laurel Mercury worked for Seattle Parks and Recreation for 25 years, from approximately 1990 to 2015, photographing and documenting Seattle's 485 parks. Mercury was an Administrative Support Specialist for a number of Parks and Recreation project managers and directors including Raj Manhas, Donald Harris, Kevin Stoops, and Michael Shiosaki.
Mercury's work outside the Parks Department includes freelance photography for the Seattle Convention and Visitors Bureau (from 2000 until 2008), for Where Magazine, for several other magazines, and for greeting cards.
