Historical Note
Teresa Mosqueda was elected to City Council in 2017 in one of the two citywide positions. A third-generation Mexican-American born in Olympia, she earned a BA from the University of Washington and an MPA with a focus in public health from Evergreen State College. She worked at the Washington State Department of Health, the Children’s Alliance, the Community Health Plan of Washington, and Washington State Labor Council before joining City Council. While on council, she focused on progressive revenue sources, worker standards and protections, affordable housing, and sick leave policies. She was reelected in 2021 but resigned midway through her term on January 2, 2024, after being elected to the King County Council.
