Scope and Contents
Electronic correspondence relating to Seattle's Office of Housing programs and services during the Hooper administration. Major topics covered include affordable housing, rental assistance, home ownership, homelessness, energy efficiency/weatherization, Multifamily Property Tax Exemption (MFTE) Program, the Seattle Housing Levy, and zoning. The Compass on Dexter, Slate Apartments in Interbay, and the Hirabayashi Place in International District are some of the affordable apartments he oversaw during development. One major project overseen by Hooper was the Center City Initiative with a goal to support human services and public safety in downtown Seattle. A second project overseen by Hooper was the Chronic Long-term Shelter Residents Initiative to address how the city's homelessness population could be housed.

Historical Note
Mayor Mike McGinn appointed Hooper as interim director of the Office of Housing on April 9, 2010. Previous to that, Hooper spent the ten years prior as director of policy and program development for the Office of Housing. Hooper has over thirty years of experience serving the city of Seattle in various capacities: manager of the Seattle’s rental program, director of policy and program development, and as the manager of multi-family development. On March 9, 2011, McGinn appointed Hooper as the permanent director of the Office of Housing where he presided until his departure in 2013.
