Nightlife Advisory Board Records
Scope and Contents Note
Records include the board’s roster of members, a work plan and schedule, background information regarding Seattle nightlife, best practices from other cities, correspondence and communications, meeting materials and reports, a 2008 year-end report, and a final report at the end of 2009. Meetings focused closely on noise complaints and solutions, recommendations on noise ordinance rules, and best practices for the City of Seattle. The board’s final report states that the board provided “advice on the implementation of existing City ordinances and resolutions, including: Ordinance 122614, Resolution 31004, Ordinance 122473, Ordinance 122474, LIQUORSTAT, The City’s new nightlife establishment database and State Engrossed House Bill 2113.”

Historical Note
The Seattle Nightlife Advisory Board was established in 2008 in accordance with Resolution 31003. The purpose of the board was to review the effectiveness of new nightlife-related legislation. NAB consisted of nine members: 3 nightlife industry representatives, 3 neighborhood representatives, 1 representative with a law enforcement background, 1 representative affiliated with the Washington State Liquor Control Board, and 1 representative with a background in acoustical engineering or similar field.
