Appraisals of buildings and property.

Real estate appraisals of buildings and property for a variety of locations in Seattle, primarily downtown and Pioneer Square, from several appraisers. Appraisals include photographs and are helpful for learning about the historical context of buildings and property.

Records from the Real Estate Services division of the City of Seattle's Fleets and Facilities Department.

Petitions, certifications of signatures, reports, correspondence, and statements of expense regarding attempts to recall or impeach City officials. Includes the 1906 petition for a recall amendment to the City Charter.

Record of departmental expenses arranged chronologically with monthly recapitulation by fire company. Includes date, requisition number, item or supplies, cost, and company receiving it.

Chronological list of fires written in narrative form including date, address of structure, owner, estimated amount of loss, and insurance coverage. Many entries are incomplete.

Numerical listing of ordinance titles. Arranged by ordinance number and including title and date approved. Handwritten, marginal notes indicate repeal dates when applicable. Volume 1 includes ordinances 1-5182; volume 2 includes ordinances 5183-8489.

Engrossed petitions for street improvements with reports by City Council committees. Includes street name, ordinance number authorizing improvement, petition text, names of petitioners, date, estimated cost as provided by the City Engineer, and certification of majority. Also includes an index by street name to page number of volumes and authorizing ordinance.

Record of supplies received by the department and then disbursed to respective engine companies. Includes vendor, description of supplies, quantity, and cost. Arranged chronologically.

Brochures, recreation program schedules, and flyers for the department's swimming pools, sailing and water craft centers, theaters, cultural arts programs, tennis centers, adult and youth programs, nature programs, and special populations activities. Arranged by community center or recreation facility.

Petitions, certifications of signatures, and City Attorney opinions on referenda. A referendum is proposed or approved legislation that is referred through a petition process to the people for a vote.

Lists of proposed legislation and Clerk Files introduced to City Council and subsequently referred to committees. Includes Council Bill and Clerk File numbers, title of document, name of sponsoring Councilmember, and committee to which document was referred.

Proceedings of Board established in 1951 to administer examinations for the various classes identified ad requiring refrigeration licenses for employment. Minutes include lists of people passing examinations and those who failed or did not have the requisite work experience to qualify for the exam.

Records of the committee during Conlin's tenure as chair.

A register of applicants for positions in the fire and police departments. Includes name, address, age, marital status, nativity, height, weight, and number of dependents for each applicant. Also includes information on civil service examination scores and rank, certification of employment, probationary appointments, separation from service, application and examination for promotion, and general remarks. A card file system replaced the register in 1905.

Lists of elected officials and appointments to City positions and committees. Arranged chronologically.

Annual franchise statements required by Ordinance 4953. Includes name of franchise holder, character of franchise, length, date granted, to whom originally granted, date transferred if applicable, whether holder is person or corporation, owners/officers, ordinance granting franchise, and comments. Franchises include telephone and telegraph, railroads, electric street railway, water systems, electric power lines, gas lines, and fire alarm systems among others.
