Note:
ANSIR (Awareness of National Security Issues and Repines), advisory from the FBI Terrorist Threat Advisory for the Domestic United States only. Those groups in opposition to the WTO have stated they will be in Seattle and plan to conduct numerous activities. "The FBI has received credible information that some elements with the protest community are planning to disrupt the conference. The FBI assesses the potential threat of violence, to include criminal acts of civil disturbance, as low to medium for the Seattle area during the time frame of the WTO Meeting. In particular, environmental or animal rights extremists or anarchist-induced violence should be considered a possibility during the meeting." Also strong indications that there are likely to be "cyber-protests" with "virtual sit-ins." Employees of corporate sponsors and companies should be alert to any surveillance efforts from the protest groups, this includes vehicle surveillance. Individuals believing that they may have become targets of surveillance should contact the FBI office ANSIR Coordinator. Activities requiring immediate action should be directed to the appropriate local authorities. "Recipients should remain sensitive to threats made by anti-WTO groups." This ANSIR email is for corporate security professionals and not for public dissemination or to republish in any public format.
