Note:
Details on the SCC Film Forum: Purpose – To provide an artful departure from conventional committee business in order to inform through entertainment committee members and the public on subjects related to the work of the committee. Operation – A film curator is chosen by the Licata office to select film excerpts to be screened via laptop video projection at the beginning of committee meetings. The curator is responsible for obtaining the film excerpt and delivering it to the screening in the proper format for playback on a Windows-compatible laptop computer. The curator will limit film excerpt selections to those that correlate with one or more of the committee’s work program areas. Screenings will run no longer than 3 minutes. Lighting in Chambers will be turned off to best accommodate viewing. Curators will serve a minimum 6 month / maximum 1 year period beginning July 1st, 2010. Each selected film excerpt must have the maker’s written permission to screen during a committee meeting and to maintain documentation of the screening in official City records. Whenever feasible, the filmmaker will introduce their film’s screening. Otherwise, excerpts will be introduced by either the curator or the curator’s designated presenter. Film Forum Curator – Adam Sekuler serves as the program director for Northwest Film Forum located on Capitol Hill. Before arriving in Seattle he was programmer for the nation's first and only dedicated non-fiction theatre, The Bell Auditorium. He is co-founder of Search and Rescue, an ongoing effort to present and preserve discarded archives of 16mm films. He also programmed for the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Film Festival and Sound Unseen. In his early years he booked music for the Whole Music Club, Minneapolis' only all ages venue. During his spare time, Adam makes short films that have screened at festivals and museums. You can find him scheming about bus cabarets and penciling in words on crossword puzzles on the weekends.
