Description
Petition for Water Main on Republican and Pontius Streets from R. Daniels and L. W. Lowe. The main was to be located from Albert and Republican Street, running east on Republican Street to Pontius Street, and then north on Pontius Street to lot 10 of block 29. The total distance was about 450 feet. Another citizen, W. Sharp, wrote that he owned lot number 7 on block 29 of Pontius addition and planned to build a house in the spring of 1895 "at which time he pledges to become a consumer of city water." The Board of Public Works supported the petition but suggested changing the line from Albert and Republican Streets to May and Republican Streets. Council reported favorably. The City Treasurer reported that Lot 4 Block 32 Pontius Addition did not pay assessments for grading Fifth and Republican Street between Mary Street and Pontius Street. Rees P. Daniels noted that lot 4 was not "owned or controlled by any of the petitioners in this case."
